Get "totally waisted" with waist beads by sewra
New York, N.Y.-- Whether you are a college student or grandmother, a size 2 or 52, Sewra Kidane has the waist beads for you.
Waist beads by sewra creates original, handmade adornments for all ages and sizes. Sewra began beading as a way to pass time and get over a broken heart; the process became very calming and meditative, and in 1999, she created her own business.
Waist beads are known for shaping a woman's figure and honoring her femininity. Traditionally worn by African women, the beads have several purposes including rites of passages, romance, healing and rejuvenation.
"There are a number of reasons to wear waist beads," Sewra said. "But I feel the most important reason women should wear [them] is because it's a personal way to praise their femininity."
She also wants women to feel confident enough to actually wear them.
"I don't want women to feel they have to be a size two to wear my waist beads because you don't."
Sewra believes her pieces are for the bold and confident woman.
"I always say that my waist beads are works of art, [and] only daring, fly girls who want to be noticed would wear them. These pieces are truly one of a kind, and I love to see women adorned in my work not only because they look sexy, but they're doing something personal for themselves," she said.
"After suffering from a heartbreak, I find that it's imperative to take the time to do something special for yourself, and my creations are perfect for doing just that."
Sewra's unique baubles are priced at $30 and go up from there; she does custom orders upon request as well.
Presently, she is concentrating on expanding her product line and customer base.
