Company adds new flavor to stationery products

NEW YORK, N.Y. --Tired of the same old greeting cards at the supermarket? Looking for something with a little more flair and flavor? Check out Alton Weekes, LLC.

Dubbed “stationer to the stars,” Alton Weekes creates all things paper. His clients have included Susan Taylor of "Essence Magazine" and Malaak Compton, Chris Rock’s wife.

His stationery company was officially created in 2000 but started as an idea in his childhood bedroom in 1989.

“Growing up, my mother always gave out cards for every occasion, no matter what,” Weekes said. “I’m inspired by my mother, and I keep her memory alive by creating stationery that inspires and uplifts everyday people like you and me.”

Divine inspiration and color play a big part in his designs as well as the types of papers and other pieces that add character. He uses everything from linen to brocades, Swarovski crystals to vintage charms, all blended with a hint of contemporary design.

In addition to creating his own work, Weekes teaches others the art of stationery design through his Creative Weekes Workshops, which teaches individuals how to create stationery with their own style.

Individuals can buy greeting cards, invitations, announcements, notes, menu place cards and gift tags. Upscale specialty shops, lifestyle boutiques and museum gift shops carry these original items.

Part of Weekes mission statement is to provide expert craftsmanship in meeting the needs and interest of the individual culture. And he is doing just that.

“What sets my product apart is the design and styling of each product that are created using my hand, each with its own unique sense of ability to grab and pull at your heart strings,” he said. “I think what people like is that my work is really a passion for me. I’m in love with paper.”
