Brittany Thomas, President and CEO of Clumps of Mascara, LLC
Mocha Writer: What is Clumps of Mascara, LLC?
Brittany: ClumpsOfMascara.com fueled the machine that is Clumps of Mascara, LLC. It is the business side of my beauty blog that allows me to reach out beyond cyberspace.
MW: When did you start it?
Brittany: I started it in November 2009.
MW: Why did you create Clumps of Mascara?
Brittany: In the event that I may change my mind about maintaining Clumps dot com, I wanted a sturdy business to fall back on. I have always had a passion for entrepreneurial ventures, and although I'm not 100 percent sure about what I'm doing, making it "official" certainly feels good.
MW: What is your business's mission?
Brittany: Clumps, LLC's mission is to inspire and motivate women of all backgrounds. The pieces that I write and events that I host are all about encouraging women to truly love what they see in the mirror. Of course, that can be achieved by a gorgeous lipstick or mascara, but I really want women and girls to know that true beauty, as cliché as it sounds, comes from within.
MW: What are some things you want to accomplish this year?
Brittany: I would love to host several events, speak on panels, make several donations to battered women shelters and possibly form a mentoring program.
MW: Who and what inspires you?
Brittany: My inspiration comes from other business owners. Akilah from Execumama.com, Patrice of Afrobella.com and Latoicha of LuxeTips.com are all humble, beautiful and successful women doing what they love. I look up to them and admire them so much.
MW: What do you love most about owning your own business?
Brittany: It's mine! Muahaha! No really...it's mine. Having a passion is one thing. Owning it, watering it, and watching it bloom is something else. Being a business owner gives me purpose. I feel as if I have now left some footprints on this Earth.
